Best Focusing Technique?

Posted By Jason Bokor

What’s the best focusing technique? I just got a 300D and am curious to see what this group says. I have a Kendrick Kwik Focus (Hartmann mask) which works great for other applications. Is a Series IV Stiletto a better option?

Thanks,
Jason

Moom and Venus - Weird Moom Artifact

Posted By Jason Bokor

Check out the weird double effect of the moon, I took this tonight with my Digital Rebel and Canon 28-135 IS lens. The IS was off as the camera was on a tripod. I took about two dozen shots and this was the only one to exhibit this artifact. Picture details: 3.20 sec exposure, 9.0 F-Stop, ISO 800, 135mm focal length. I cropped the picture in PSE. This was one of the longer exposures. Any thoughts on why this one has the artifact?

Tear Drop Effect?

Posted By Jason Bokor

Is this the effect or is it just out of focus enough to blur the borders?

Heinz Kerry scumbag remark

Posted By Jason Bokor

I just heard about this remark in an e-mail someone sent me. Apparently she made it yesterday in reference to some of President Bush's supporters. If Laura Bush made such a remark it would have made top news stories. Maybe we already have a very low expectation of the demeanor of Heinz-Kerry. It is just not out of character so it is not news.

Do you have TV Pronto serial #6075??

Posted By Jason Bokor

Well I used to, but I sold it about 5 years ago.
Anyway, in going through some old papers I came across the Al Nagler signed manual, signed packing slip and the registration card.

If you have this scope I will gladly send you these documents.

Transit of Venus - TUE JUN 08 - See Graphics

Posted By Jason Bokor

"NEVER look directly at the Sun. If you do not know how to properly use filters, then employ the projection method."

I believe that in this month's Astronomy one of the "transit" articles had a good point. At sunrise, if there is just the right amount of haze, you could actually see the dot of Venus on the Sun with the naked eye. Obviously, if it is a bright sunrise you would want to avoid this.

Just a thought.

Nice replacement for the TV-85 (saw it in the classifieds). How's the balance on the giro-2 with these two beasts?
