Which software to use?

Posted By Dan Wilson

I'm just getting into CCD photography, have a Canon 20Da. The software I do have now is Registax, and photoshop 7. Do I need software like Maxim Dl or CCDsoft? or is the photoshop all I need? Thanks in advance, Dan

Photomultiplier illuminated reticle eypiece?

Posted By Dan Wilson

Does anyone know of an illuminated reticle that has a photomultiplier in it I can use to guide on dim stars with? Don't want to spend big money and headaches with an ST4 or something like that. Just have an imaging eyepiece like Meade or Orion makes that would be 9mm or so and have a reticle in it.

Thanks, Dan

Just got this cleaned up. It had 2 satellites go through it. Taken with a Orion 100 ED, Cannon 20Da ASA 800 for 10 minutes and sky fog removed with levels adjust in Photoshop. On the large file you can blow this up and see MANY galaxies. grin

Posted By Dan Wilson

To the folks who know stuff... I'm thinking of getting an RCX 14". I currently have an Orion 100ED scope that is mounted on my 10LX200 that I can guide with... Will this scope be adaquit to guide the 14" f/8 scope?

Thanks, Dan

Where to get clock drive parts?

Posted By Dan Wilson

Hi all;

I'm thinking of making a larger RA gear for my scope to cut down on PE, I wanted to know if anyone knows of a place I can buy worm gears, variable speed drive systems, etc.

Mucho thanks, Dan

Nice photo Jim. I went to your link for the processing details and got to say, I need to take some classes on processing digital photos! Here is one I took with a Canon 20Da. The only processing I can do and KNOW what I'm doing is the levels adjustment in photoshop. I just moved the lefthand slider over to the dark pixel curve to get rid of the sky fog. This was a 10 minute exposure throught a Stellarvue AT1010. Notice all the blue around the bright stars. I sold it and have an Orion 80ED on order.

Hey Mike. sounds like it's time to borrow some one elses handbox and chord and see if that fixes your problem. If not then it's probably the circuit board in the scope. Sounds like the problem occoured before the chord wrap actually happened and the chord wrap was a result of the board or handbox going bad in the first place.
