Hi all,
please share your experience for best way to counterbalance a 14.5" NightSky Scope. I have been at war with my scope for years now trying to find a better method than a Canon small digital camera case, filled with rocks and slung off the back rockerbox black handle. it has worked ok...but I know there are better commercial and more permanent methods. Please share your experiences and any websites selling commercial products for fixing this problem. I figured I only need 1-3 lbs of weight to use 35Pan, 26 and 31 Nagler, 17 Ethos etc. without weight problems. Thank You in advance for any suggestions!

Hi all,
was at star party way out in Mojave Desert last night and when pack up time at 230am came, I searched high and low for the aluminum screw on cap lens dustcover for my TV76...to no avail...it is MIA and swallowed up into the Mojave to probably be excavated by scientists in 1000yrs or so!
Now, question is...how on earth do I get another one??? Should I call TeleVue directly in NY for a replacement? My scope is under warranty of course and is TV76 #1161. Who here would really know...how much would it cost? Does ANYONE have an idea or at least a ballpark figure???
I appreciate ANY feedback that anyone might have!

I have a few eyepieces (as most do!) and the question I have posed is this...
How tight should the eyepieces be screwed together? Now I understand grabbing both ends and screwing them together as tight as possible is not good for the eyepieces as it pinches the optics and gives degraded images, plus puts the glass under undue pressure...but should they be screwed just tight enough to be a little bit loose (such as hand tight and back off 2-3mm? Please give your expert opinions.

Just got off phone with Televue (talked to Ray) and for all those with dented 2" Barrels, here is a quote to give you, a ball park figure if curious. I inquired the price to fix a dented 2" chrome barrel on a 31mm Nagler Type 5 (not that I have one, but inquired for a ballpark figure)....it would be $90 to exchange. Televue will inspect your eyepiece for any other damage, clean and fix for that charge, it does not include shipping. So...probably cheaper for other eyepieces. This report is just to give you all a rough estimate if you wanted to know how to do this or how much to fix. Clear Skies!

Rod...I will keep this simple...YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT!
I own the 17mm, 13mm and 8mm Ethos and find myself breathless every time I use them. I also keep pondering the 21mm, but I own the 26mm and 20mm Type 5's and just don't have the heart to part with them. I would keep the 26mm T5, but I adore my little 20mm T5...such an incredible eyepiece for its weight and size. The 21mm ethos will be 2.2lbs, keep the weight in mind for dobs, that is why I really don't think I will take that plunge. maybe the 10mm Ethos in time, but I barlow my 20mm T5 and the views are amazing.
