I have a Zeiss 2" prism on my Mewlon and it is my diagonal of choice. My Mewlon is F/10 so no aberrations are introduced. With the famous Zeiss coatings, throughput is close to 99%. The Celestron 2 inch prisms were made in Japan and their optical quality is quite good.

Mewlon 300 Specs?

I have a Mewlon 300 - exceptional scope! The primary has standard reflectivity while the secondary is enhanced. I believe both have standard silicone dioxide overcoatings. I estimate correction to be about 1/6 wave at the eyepeice which is very good for a Cat system.
The scope is a keeper.

I have an AP130 EDF on mine. Handles it like a charm. I do use a sturdy Berlebach tripod which is very important for overall stability.

Concur whole heartedly. It can be very frustrating getting all the right components together. It is well known that Tak increases its profit margin by selling parts that are scope specific and are not interchangeable. Hang in there. I am anxious to see the results of your CCD images using the Mewlon.

AP has increased production of its 130 model and more seem to be entering the used market as a result. With its spherical design, the lens can be produced somewhat faster than the earlier heavy aspheric EDF models whith no loss in optical quality. you may be able to pick up one used without the huge premiums that were paid for used AP scopes in the past.

Zeiss 6mm monocentric from the 60's. A great high power eyepiece with limitations.

AP130GT aspherized?

To do an oil spaced ED triplet with zero color same as an airpaced
design like the AP 160EDF requires more than small aspheric work.
Right now there is no glass available that would allow all-spherical
or only small aspherics AND at the same time produce essentially zero
color error over the same spectrum as the 160EDF.
