I haven't found a cheap solution for 1-1/4 in eyepieces, but Edge Shaving Gel caps fit my 2 in. eyepieces. A little long though.

I got a posting a month or two ago on a new Yahoo group on "Extreme Astonomy." I believe it was starting up to address the problems of our hobby at low temperatures.
