FS-102 camera mounting and focuser

Posted By Tim Carleton

Hi, I have a couple of questions, I'd like to hook my canon 10d to my tak, and need to know the exact components that I need, I have the 2" ocular adaptor, if that is one of them. I also have the canon t-mount, as I've used this camera with my sct.

Also, I'd like to know what kind, if any electric focusers are popular for this scope. Thanks, Tim

Rings on Mars?

Posted By Tim Carleton

I've been getting these wierd Mars pics right out of registax, I'm using a vesta pro 690k, a televue 5x powermate, my tak fs 102, and a tak diagonal. The results used to not do this, has anyone else ever experienced this, I'm thinking problem with the webcam, although the video and individual frames look fine to me...I'm talking about the wood grain effect.... thanks for any ideas, Tim

Re: C9.25

finally? sounds pretty biased.... I'm selling mine because I'm going with a 14" lx200 in a permanent observatory. My 9.25 is better than any 8" sct I've ever looked through and gave sharper images of the planets than my 12" meade sct did. I think it's just a coincidence so many are for sale myself.

It's been awhile since I've taken anything I felt comfortable posting, the seeing has been better and I'm getting the collimation closer on the 14", This was last night, 14" lx200 @ f20 with toucam 2.

what's with the keychain?

http://www.astromart.com/viewad.asp?cid=266969

Is it an inside joke or is this serious? It's been renewed quite a few times. If this thing sells, I have some old used keys I'd be willing to part with, I've even got a very rare and highly sought after keychain of my own that I might be able to be talked out of for the right amount.. wink

taboo on contacting someone?

There a user here who's placed 6 ads, with one currently running, I've replied to the ad 3 times since it was posted, to no avvail, This user currently has no ratings, and I'm thinking it's because they have thier spam filter set too high, and aren't getting the emails. I've seen the "Hey such and such, I'm trying to reach you" ads, but I don't want to do something like that if it's not kosher. What would you do? :S

Harwood Observatory

Posted By Tim Carleton

Well, I finally broke ground and got somewhere. I've been planning my observatory for two years. During that time, my scopes have changed, as well as my overall design and size. The lowdown on this building is it's going to be a 16'x24' roll off roof, with a scope area of 16'x14', with a 10'x16' office to be used for imaging and sleeping, This pic is of the forms, vapor barrier, and the plumbing. I should add before going further, this is a multi-use building, which is meeting the spousal units requirements as well a mine, It's on 32 acres we bought two years ago, and fullfills our need of some facilities out there.
