Old Paracorr

Posted By Greg Harper

All,
I have an old Paracorr. This model has no lock sleeve, so it is leaving set screw marks on eyepieces.
I see there is an add-on Televue TE-PTT-2002 Paracorr Top available. Anyone know for sure this will fit my Paracorr?
Or,
Anyone know if it may be possible to have a machinist cut a channel so I can add a sleeve into the slot as set screw protection?

Buying the Televue Tunable Top would be the cheapest way.

Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Greg H.

A new secondary,

Posted By Greg Harper

Hi all,

I have a 22" dob, similar to Starmaster in style. I need to take the 22" mirror to a string dob style.
I also wish to shorten the height of the eyepiece. So, I am looking for a top-quality secondary. I have not figured the size yet. I'm going to guess it will be between 5 and 7 inches.

Looking for ideas.

Thank you,
Greg H.

SCT Focuser talk,

Posted By Greg Harper

I have an old 11:1 focuser from a refractor. The bottom end does not have the adapter.
The beveled bottom of the body measures 3.08" or 78mm.
The inside smaller diameter of the bevel measures 3.01" or 76.5mm.
The length( from the large diameter to the small diameter ) of the bevel is about .25".

The piece I need is the adapter which fits the Meade 4" SCT threads.

Let me know if you have a solution, or know what I need to purchase from an OEM vendor.

Thanks all,
Greg Harper

Waite Research questions,

Posted By Greg Harper

I am owner of a Waite Research 17.5" Dob mirror. I had put on it the best coating Spectrum has.
I also paid for Waite Research to make the matching mirror cell. I have already paid for the mirror cell.
I have been waiting for many months without talking to anyone at Waite Research. I do not want ripped off by Waite Research.
My question is if there is a problem occurring at Waite Research?
I need the mirror cell, or I need to make a commitment to creating one for the mirror so I can move forward with building the dob.
I have requested Paypal to step in but it has been too long.
I want to know where to post this in hopes to draw the truth of what is going on.
Thanks all

Re: What are your 3 most used eyepieces?

3. Meade Series 5000 Ultra 18mm & 14mm. 8)
2. Kokusai 13mm
1. Kokusai 20mm
I really like the Kokusai's

I have a Discovery 12.5" split dob. I upgraded to a 2" 10:1 ClearVue focuser. I need something very serious for the secondary spider(that won't break the bank too). Dark nights here can be dark, if I go where its not exactly safe alone, that is, but dark skies may be had. And, at the present time I am saving for DobDriver. Must have that one...
On my ETC90, I seem to like the same eyepieces, Kokusai's are best for that little scope, but the Meade's do wonders.
I have ran a Pentax XW 10mm at both scopes, and I didn't see the price with the view so it went on the classifieds.
I haven't tried my 2" ClearVue 15mm yet. I can't wait!
Lastly, I so much need a used Kokusai 30mm widescan III !!! If you know where there's one not getting used, please tell me!!! LOL

Thanks all!

Old Paracorr

Posted By Greg Harper

Hi,
Thanks for your replies.

I'm not sure of the material used in the screw in my Paracorr, yet. I might opt for the nylon thumb screw method.

On the other fix, I'm not sure I need the Tunable top. On some ads they make it sound as if using the top you do a lot of guessing of the setting to use for a given eyepiece.

Waite Research questions,

Posted By Greg Harper

As I have expected, every time I call Waite Research, no one answers. I have left messages too.

I do not know what comes next. I may sell the primary and get out of building this scope.

Still waiting,
