Looking for the Best Big Binos

Posted By Gregory Erickson

I recently caught the astronomy bug and a bunch of us are forming a club in my WI town. A number of guys already have telescopes and I am thinking of buying big binoculars to offer something different for the club, and after reading one man's preference for using big binoculars over his 10in Dobsonian it seems like a good strategy. However, I can't find any review of a number of big binos. The Celestron 25x100 is the lowest cost but is it the same quality as Oberwerks? What about Garrett and others? Is there a review of big binos (at least 3 or 6 of them) comparing them? I read Consumer Reports but don't think they did anything on big binos. I appreciate help from anyone who has lots of experience with big binos.
Thank you in advance,
Greg smile

The 45degree binos look interesting but before I part with $1500 I want to ask others if such a big investment is worth it.

New Big Binos 90 degree lower price !

Posted By Gregory Erickson

Anyone use the new 88mm Apogee 90 degree binos? Nice price, about $700 from a listing I saw. I hope more players will get into the 90 degree big bino market with great optics for less than a grand. Another poster said Apogee is working on a 100mm pair.

Brain Fart Alert....Best Big Binos..

Posted By Gregory Erickson

Hello all! I proved my 'newbie' status posting here. Someone sent me an email reply about a week ago regarding my search for best big binos and I accidently deleted it. He has a photo of his face with an eye piece that greatly enlarges one eye. I hope he reads this and will be gracious enough to write me again what he said. I spent many minutes looking for his name and handle on other posts to no avail. I am sorry!
Sincerely,

Garrett, Oberwerk 45degree 100mm binos..worth it?

Posted By Gregory Erickson

At $1700 it's a big investment in binos. Garrett has 1 review based only 1 hr of observational time. Has anyone else spent some time with these? This is the competitor to Oberwerk's 45 degree bino which costs $100 more. Both have the 1.25" standard eyepieces and I love the 45 degree design, but are the optics great and are the Garrett's as good as the Oberwerk's?
Decisions...decisions...I need more reviews..

leaving feedback

Posted By Gregory Erickson

Help, please. How do I leave feedback on a completed classified about a month old now. I have the ad # and the seller handle but don't see how to leave positive feedback. Is it too late?
Thank you in advance,
Greg

New Fork Mount from Lumicon/ Parks

Good to see your post Joplin. You replied to one of mine many months ago and I accidently deleted it as a newbie to Astromart and not familiar with the buttons and features. I felt embarrassed. How good is your memory? smile
I forgot what i asked but it was about binos on this thread. Is there a search feature for archived posts? Anyway, thanks for the reply.

New Green Comet

Posted By Gregory Erickson

Thanks Darrell for the heads up!
That's great astro news.
There was a Lovejoy in my Army basic training unit. The drill sergeants had some fun with his name. It's a great name for a beautiful green comet.

Wishing I can get my name on a comet,

Greg
