celestron 102 refractor

Posted By jack bradley

anyone taken one apart? is it as simle as removing the three screws just forward of the eyepiece? Or, do these screws have nuts inside as do the screws on the tripod mounting bracket? One of the nuts for my mounting screws is adrift inside due to my failed attempt to remove it and replace it with a longer one. Jack

refractor disassembly

Posted By jack bradley

Trying to put a longer mounting dovetail on my celestron slt 102 refractor, not realizing the screws had nuts on the inside, I removed one screw, leaving the nut adrift in the tube. The tube has supporting gussets inside rendering it too small to put my hand in the focuser end. Can I remove the lens assy by removing the screws that appear to hold it after removing the dew sheild without affecting the collimation or performance of the scope? Celestron doesn't seem to want to comment. Understandable.

celestron mounts

Posted By jack bradley

I have a celestron slt 102 with the steel tripod and mount, go to. It is a refractor of course, but would like to obtain a 6" celestron nexstar 6. can I use the 6" on my slt 102 mount? are the mounts essentially the same, or is my slt mount to light? any advice will be appreciated.
