Borg eyepiece adaptorPosted By Bill Bogardus |
Using my .965" orthoscopic eyepieces in a binoviewer, I have noticed that alignment is a critical factor. If it is off a little I end up looking at a double image at high powers. It has worked to rotate the 1.25" to .965" adaptor until the images merge, but it seems like there must be something better.
After looking around, I found the Borg #4605 which looks like some type of compression ring. Has anyone had experience with these; especially in binos, or is there anything better for me to use?

AP SPL eyepiecesPosted By Bill Bogardus |
Wow! Is the SPL line really selling for $400 each now? I haven't heard much about them but they originally started out new for around $200 didn't they? What's the reason for this?

Has anyone compared these two? Is either type any better?

dew on corrector lensPosted By Bill Bogardus |
Emanuele,
Don't be too worried. It sounds like you have water spots which will make your system a little less than perfect, but still very useable. They probably will not go away by on their own either. Cleaning techniques will vary and you might get a multitude of opinions on what is best. I would suggest that you start by looking at Al Nagler's article on cleaning optics. http://www.televue.com/engine/page.asp?ID=143
Just take your time. You may choose to deal with this your self or you can take it or ship it to someone who can.
