Its the burgess that always gets soldPosted By Scott Ayer |
I think that the statement that "I acquired a **** scope and so now I am selling the burgess" does not necessarily imply poor quality of the burgess scope. It would depend on what "other scope" was Purchased. I had the opprtunity to purchase a used TV102 at a good price so something had to go.Which would you keep?- The Burgess 102 was actually a decent scope for the price but I wouldnt expect it to compare to A televue. I also concede that Bill Has had a lot of Quality control problems and is terrible at exaggerating his delivery dates. It just seems to me a lot of people are expexting apo performance in a cheap achromat(unrealistically)
Just My 2 cents!

Whatever happened to Astrofest?Posted By Scott Ayer |
Every year for the last 10 years, Ive told myself I wanted to go to Astrofest. I have noticed that it is considerably smaller than it used to be for the last few years.Did this get split up into another star party or is it just a thing of the past?

17P HOLMESPosted By Scott Ayer |
Does anyone know if any of the BIG observatories have posted any photos of the comet ? I searched a few days ago and couldnt find any.
I know telescope time is precious but It would be neat to see an image from someplace like Keck, or the new LBT telescope!

Well, Im running a fever again. Any one got the cure?
Im Thinking of Buying a 20" truss dob. Just concerned if it would be worth the cost (stepping up from a 15") Any thoughts?

best focuser for big dobPosted By Scott Ayer |
I recently acquired a used 20" Obsession and I am thinking of upgrading the focuser . I have the older JMI DX series focuser.
I am considering the JMI EV1 with fine focus or the FeatherTouch focuser. Any one had a chance to compare these 2?
Thanks

ISS amateur telescopePosted By Scott Ayer |
Has anybody heard anymore about the plans to put an Amateur telescope aboard ISS or has it got shelved. Used to see a lot about it in 2001-2002.

6" homebuilt refractorPosted By Scott Ayer |
Thought I would mention that my friend Matt decided to build a 6" f/15 achromat from the plans in Richard Berry's book. It has a D&G 6" lens and cell/ GSO focuser. Everything else is made from Oak or plywood.
