Help with receiving group e-mails

Posted By Dean Schwartzenberg

Hi all,

Maybe someone here can help me. At about 4:30 yesterday. I stopped receving mail/messages from Astromart and all of my and my wife's yahoo groups. I am still getting personal and junk e-mails as normal.

My server people show everything did stop coming to them at that time, of these groups. He also said that other people are getting yahoo group messages. All of my settings are still for individual e-mails, nothing has changed. I even signed up for some new yahoo groups to see if they come thru.

Anyways, since it is both Astromart and yahoo, it must be a filter somewhere that thinks these are spam, but my service says it is not them, that it is not even getting to them.

Any ideas??
Thanks,
Dean (going into withdrawl from lack of astromart)

My 'mid life crisis' ride. Not like the mighty american muscle cars but pretty quick on twisty country roads. Its sitting in front of my observatory.

Repair advice

Posted By Dean Schwartzenberg

I have a pair of Celestron 10x50 Ultimas and the adjustable eyepiece is jammed, for lack of a better word. It will turn slightly with some force, can't get focus, and makes a little binding type noise. Not metal to metal but something is seized up it feels like. Anyways, anyone seen this before? Or is this a return to Celestron?

thanks,
Dean

Anyone going to try and bluff the rain gods and go? At this point only Friday night has any chance of being clear according to the forecastsad

I spent 3 nights in the rain and clouds at the Almost Heaven SP after 7 hour drive, not sure I am up for more rain, even though this is only a 4 hour drive.

Can someone explain what the effects of an El Nino winter is, more rain I guess?

How do I rate this one?

Posted By Dean Schwartzenberg

Ok I bought a 2" diagonal advertised as new, perfect, etc. Price is ok, not a steal but fair. Picture is a Meade picture of a new one. I finally get it after a cuple weeks due to a shipping error on his part, not a big deal as he stayed in contact.

So I get the item, does look new, not a mark on it. But both the set screws have been replaced with small allen head bolts/screws. Not the standard screw with a head big enough to grip. I sent him an e-mail but have not heard back yet. He only has a single received rating, has given none.

Not a big deal really but it is not like new and it should have been stated the original screws are missing.

I'll probably let it go but....

What would you do?

Thanks for any opinion.

Playhouse Observatory?

Hi Dan,
My complete roof moves but I have a 6' warm/computer room that does have a ceiling. It could work for your idea. The pad is 12' x 18' and I have a 6' roof overhang to give it a porch look.

Struggling with height of roll off

Posted By Dean Schwartzenberg

Mike,
I dealt with the same issues. I ended up with walls at 80" and it gives me down to 17 degrees. Of course pier height determines that also. My observing room is 11.5'square. The hip roof is nice and actually allows me to keep it partially closed to keep dew off of that end.

good luck,
Dean

Gregg,
You can go to the telescope set up and you will find the option for max slew speed. I always lower mine to '7' even with the Buck's gears installed.

New observatory nearing completion

Hi Mike,
Looking good. I might suggest avoiding the asphalt shingles and maybe using metal roofing in a light color. Holds little heat and will help keep the obs cooler.

Enjoy the new set up,
Dean
