carbon tubes: are they worth it?

Posted By robert rule

I have seen several ads touting these tubes. As an example intes offers this as an option with a hefty price tag. Are they worth the extra cost.

Intes m703 deluxe to complement Traveler

Posted By robert rule

I have a Traveler with the AP 600 mount. I am looking for something to complement the Traveler yet still remain portable. My budget is around $2000.00. I have looked at the Intes closely. Anyone have experience with this OTA? Or, any other OTA suggestions?

Thanks for looking, Bob

celestron 9.25 OTA. Why so special?

Posted By robert rule

I have been looking for something to complement a Traveler on an AP 600 mount. I've been reading a lot about this OTA. I am sure that this has come up before but what makes it appear to be so special? Also, is there a great range in quality now that the company has been taken back over by professionals? Finally, any particular dealers that will make sure that everything is in excellent shape? I am leaning towards Company Seven.

Thanks for your time,

Bob

Altizimuth head for 600 wood tripod

Posted By robert rule

I have a 600 mount and a Traveler. I would love to put a altizimuth head like the TV Yoke on the 600 tripod for quick views rather than set up the "big" head. Any suggestions.

Thanks, Bob

carbon tube for 9.25

Posted By robert rule

I just purchased a brand new OTA with an aluminum tube from Company Seven. Great optics. However, what is the advantage if any of a Carbon Tube? I am assuming the optics are the same.
thanks, Bob

TEC 140 vs Celstron 91/4

Posted By robert rule

I have a Traveler and a Celestron 91/4 SCT that I purchased from Company Seven. I use an AP600 mount. The 9 1/4 has outstanding optics and I enjoy it very much but it can be a pain to collimate and you have the cool down time issue. The question I have is to whether a TEC 140 would give me the same or better views, be carried easly on the AP 600 mount and would this justify the extra cost? I have never looked through a TEC 140 so I have no way to compare images.

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thanks,
Bob

I purchased a Canon SD450 camera for my wife. It is the one she wanted. My question is can it be used for astrophotography? And, if so what would I need to get it up and running. I would appreciate any help you experts can give me. I have a Traveler on an AP600E mount.

Many thanks,
Bob

virgin teflon

Posted By robert rule

Help, I need some strips of Virgin teflon. I have called Meridian several times but no answer and no answering machine. I have emailed them several times to no avail. Does anyone have any idea where I can purchase some teflon strips? Or how I can get in touch with Meridian?

Many thanks,
Bob

Excellent service

smile Just wanted to send a note saying that I received excellent service from Meade when I had an eyepiece problem. David Lee, their representative handled my problem in a very professional and timely manner and my problem was taken care of very quickly.
