Help with konus 20x80 binosPosted By CHANDRASEKHAR REDDY |
Folks,
I recently bought a Konusview 20x80 for under $100. Given the price, I had serious misgivings about the performance. It turns out that I was right. The center post that holds the eyepieces as they move in and out during focusing is extremely loose. It has so much play that as I wiggle it, the eyepieces move several millimeters in and out.
Now the question is: Is there any way this can be fixed? Can the focusing mechanism be disassembled and shims be placed around the center post, or can the center post be replaces with a stightly thicker one?
Despite the weight, If I hold the binos, so that the eyepiecs are not in contact with the face, I get decent views, but the moment I rest it against my face, the focus (and collimation) are lost.
Please help me.
