Meade LXD-600 interface help?

Posted By Steve Dodder

Does anyone, anywhere have any information on interfacing a computer to the "Encoders" or any other port of a Meade LXD-600 mount? I've found less than 5 references of any kind to this mount on the web, (except a few in languages I don't speak), and would very much like some help. The mount is holding up a lovely Meade 127 ED refractor with wonderful optics, but the alignment and thus goto functions are worthless. Meade "Customer Service" (ha!) disavows any knowledge of this product and told me to "search the web", even after I told him there's nothing there.

You can email me off list, especially if you're in Arizona, at [email protected]

GCSP North Rim

Posted By Steve Dodder

I'll try again.

My name is Steve Dodder. I'm the current President of Saguaro Astronomy Club in Phoenix, Arizona.

My wife Rosie and I have agreed to coordinate the North Rim Grand Canyon Star Party, beginning this year. We will have some campsites available for those that wish to volunteer for the entire week, otherwise lodging will be up to you.

Much of what has occurred at NR the last couple years has already been undone, and the format will be more like the south rim-set up at night and do what you like during the day. I need to finalize camping arrangements, vis a vis how many sites they're willing to let us use, so any early input as to interest will be helpful. You can contact me at either of two email addresses. [email protected] (preferred) or [email protected].

I'm very excited about moving this star party beyond the past troubles and making it as successful, (though a smaller version) as the south rim. Rosie and I have attended the last 10 GCSP's, with one of those at the north rim and have enjoyed every minute there. They called us "The Dynamic Duo" the first year we attended, so that should tell you something. grin

Please, let me know if you'd like to come, and we'll officially open reservations on March 1st, just as Dean will. The dates of the event will always be the same as the south rim.

Thank you, and pass the word!

Surely, someone out there has a clue about this mount and its workings?
