LX200 focuser has no compression ring

Posted By David DeVillier

I just made the move from a classic to an ACF with electric focuser.
Am I missing something, or is this scope sold without a compression ring on the focuser? I slipped the televue diag into the focuser and as I snugged the set screws I could feel the tips eating into the paint. The screw tips actually have an indentation on the tip (to help with the gouging). If this is how it is designed there should be a large warning tag attached stating "do not use this focuser".
Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Focusers for lx200 12"

Posted By David DeVillier

I am looking for opinions on focusers for the 12" lx200. It has clearance issues and my William Optics crayford will strike the forks with a 2" diagonal. Also, I am using a Denk II bino so I would like to upgrade to a stronger focuser. I have the electric stock focuser but I would rather a manual focuser. Thinking of Feathertouch, Moonlite or JMI.
Any suggestions?
Thanks David

installing push to on a lightbridge 16"

Posted By David DeVillier

I would like suggestions on encoders and controllers. I am mechanically capable and I already built a new base for the scope with a 1/4" hole in the center of the pivot bolt.I have Skysafari pro on an ipad and it would be nice to operate the scope with this. Info on where to get this equipment will be appreciated.
I would like to keep it on a budget but all suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Dewmaster

Anyone noticed the ad for Dewmaster dew shield? Am I missing something? They have the reflective side in. I would never install it that way and I can't imagine why someone would. The ad says its reversible. Go Figure.

Garrett Optical 100mm binos

Posted By David DeVillier

I've been looking at those also. Have you noticed the APM and Barska bino's too? They look identical except for minor detail on the specs.
Garrett 13 lb 4 oz f/5
APM 15.9 lb f/5.3
Barska 256 oz (16 lb) no f stated
They must be the same. Probably the Garretts are weighed without EP's
Does anyone know how much better these are than the Zhumell 25x100?
