I usually follow threads to their end. When I click [Return to Forum Selection] it always puts me back on page 1. Couldn't it return me to the point where I picked up the thread?

Tear-out foam padding

Posted By Bob Arr

Does anybody know a source for the foam padding that is covered
with a grid of cuts halfway through the foam? The cuts are 1/2" apart,
and intended to allow the user to tear out small squares of foam,
half the depth of the pad, leaving a cavity shaped to hold an object snugly.
It's ideal for eyepieces and other astronomy equipment.

Lowe's sells an attache case ($25) that comes with this foam installed,
but I want to use it in a custom job. Maybe more than one job,
if it works well. I could use about 4 square feet, 3" thick.

Thanks.

Tear-out designer foam

Thanks for the replies.

Turns out nobody sells this stuff reasonably. Orion no longercarries it, Pelican offers a small quantity for $60 (you can
buy case and all for $25 at Lowes), and the enormous list generated
by Google consists 90% of deadend duplications.

I have been lucky. A friend who works for a company that had
a lot of leftover pluck foam saved the scraps and gave them to me.It's enough to do my job. But I pity the next guy who needs it.
