Opticstar

Posted By philip young

Need feedback opticstar offered to refund my money for a ccd camera
they should to me that was NOT 100% compatible.
Over several months I thought it was my fault the camera drivers would
not install on the laptop I bought SPECIFICALLY TO RUN CCD
Finally another customer rep informed me it will NOT RUN ON 64 bit VISTA
THEY OFFERED TO TAKE THE CAMERA BACK
they did not specify whst their return policy was
I RETURNED the camera but now they REFUSE TO PROCESS THE
REFUND UNTIL packaging is returned along with items I know I shipped
to them.
I offered to pay the difference. They STILL REFUSE
they are in the uk and have the ccd and don't answer my correspondence !!

opticstar customer service 64 bit vs 32 bit

Posted By philip young

I wanted to mention the excellent customer service and customer support at Opticstar. I had purchased a ccd camera from them sometime last year. It arrived and I was unfortunately not able to get the camera to work with the new computer that I had purchased.

After some time had elapsed and numerous helpful discussions from Opticstar customer service departement (George is a most helpful customer support person that works there), I still was unable to use the camera with my new laptop.

Opticstar generouslly offered to refund my money and promptly did so. In passing I would be certain before buying any camera that their driver is compatible with the operating system that you have and make certain that you specify 32 bit or 64 bit because few if any ccd manufacturers offer a 64 bit driver for any operating system and this can become confusing if there is a broad statement made about being driver compatibility such as 100% compatible with vista for instance. In some cases this may not be true and compatibility is only with the 32 bit vista and not the 64 bit.

A mistake can be made and a wrong purchase of either computer or ccd camera if care is not taken in making this distinction.
I just wanted to mention this as it is rare to have such responsive and excellent customer service.
Unfortunately I was unable to evaluate the quality of their camera but if their customer service department is any indication then it might be worth checking them out.
sincerely
