all companies do this, its normal.. did you expect them to announce months ago that they planned to upgrade their dob line?, they would not have sold anything for months.

Perhaps what you expect is an inexpensive way to upgrade your scope to the new standard, perhaps they are not interested in selling that, probably too many headaches and returns if people do not install it correctly. They properly referred you to a source of all this hardware.

I'm only familiar with the 201xt, sure it works but with limitations.
pros:
1.cheap, but I would not pay more than $200 used for it
2.lightweight
cons:
1.issues simultaneous corrections on both axis, some mounts cant handle this, easily tested before purchasing unit.
2.rather insensitive, needs bright guide stars

Note that the instructions that ship with the 201xt are incorrect, and the previous version 201 did not actually work at all, so avoid the plain 201 units.
