What's up with Astro-Physics?

Posted By Tom Blahovici

It's been a while since I've bben in astronomy but I have a 6" ap coming on the wait list.

However, I checked out their web site, and it seems they only sell one kind of refractor now!! Is this true? Only a 6" f7.5? What about the 4"? What about the 5 inch?
Anyone know?
Thanks

Astro-physics Notification for 155 f/7?

Posted By Tom Blahovici

Hi,

Does anyone know about the notification for astro-physics refractors?
I have been on the list since 2001-2002 for a 155 f/7 and have not heard anything.
But today, I checked out their wen site and saw that there are new 140's?
What happens to the old notifications?
It's now around 5-6 years and still no notification!
Thanks for any ideas!

Wireless telescope control?

Posted By Tom Blahovici

I am about to embark on a wireless project for a Losmandy GM8. I purchased a mini notebook (HP2140) which has bluetooth and a wireless network connection. I would like to have the whole telescope control wireless! I already have installed Poth, Microsoft world wide telescope (working fine).
This is the configuration:
Mini notebook (160g SSD, 2G Ram, bluetooth, wireless g, n)
Losmandy GM8 (uses GPUSB and serial connection)
DSI pro (autoguiding)(uses a USB)
Nikon D3X with camera control pro (downloading the images)

I have already purchased the Air Cable Serial to Bluetooth adapter which Software Bisque says works well for control of the losmandy but I also want a solution for the 3 USB connections.
One option is a wireless router which has USB ports (made for this) but it is a router, not a network client. This will work, except that I cannot then connect to the network router that has an internet connection. I almost need a wireless USB hub that can act as a netork client which would mean I would need peer to peer wireless in the field, or through another router (not ideal), or a wireless USB hub connecting to a wireless USB key on the laptop. These solutions are not very high in the throughput area.

Any suggestions?
