Ziess 47 30 12 - 9902

Posted By Jim Dixon

I noticed that a Zeiss 47 30 12 - 9902 is being offered for sale as a Binoviewer on Astromart. A 47 30 12 - 9902 is a indeed a binoviewer however it is a binoviewer for microscopes. It seems to have been modified to accept 1.25" eyepieces instead of the standard 30mm microscope subjective lens. Is it an acceptable practice to offer for sale a device that has been re-purposed in this way? Several of the binoviewers that have been offered for sale recently seem to have started life as microscope parts. It could be that this this is not a problem at all. I am a new guy here and am not sure of the conventions. Please let me know what you think.
