telescope depreciation

Posted By Paul Mahone

A little over a year ago I purchased a scope from a camera store. I payed two thousand for it even though it was in less than perfect condition. Now I'm not going to mention the name of the shop but when I bought it they told me they would get me the shipping boxes from the manufacturer and never did. So recently I've been wanting to buy a house and since I have another great scope I would try to sell this one. So after an unsuccessful Astromart attempt I figured I'd call the shop where I bought it since it was used in the first place. Thinking they may buy it for half of what I paid for it. What a laugh after they're sales person gave me the hard sell and screwed me on the boxes they only offered me a quarter of what I paid. And That was if it was in excellent condition! Needless to say I will do all of my future purchasing from Anacortes. And I won't mention the camera shop. Sorry had to rant. Do all scopes depreciate 75% in a year?

Need some advice.

I'm going to attempt some lunar photography with a canon slr on a 10" lx200 f10. I need some advice on what film speed to try and on exposure times. Also I've been struggling a bit with collimation (my newt was WAY easier)how much will this affect the outcome of lunar shots. Thank you in advance

A friend that I work with commented thursday morning, that he noticed a sun spot while driving to work. You see it's been really foggy here in southern california in the mornings. I told him not to look at the sun even when it's foggy but the point is he noticed your "naked eye" sun spot as well I just told him about your post so he knows he's not totaly crazy : )
