lx200 polar alignment help needed

Posted By Wayne MacKenzie

Does anyone know a good comprehensive explanation of ALL aspects of polar alignment of an LX 200 GPS on a wedge? I have observed for years but only recently bought a wedge and built a pier and I'm helpless. For example, I have an older super steady/thick astro wedge already on the pier but there are no marks on alt setting to go by and although I know my area (Dallas TX) is around 32 degrees, there is no friggin explanation on how to adjust the wedge using this info. Do I elevate the wedge plate to a thirty two degree angle via digital angle gauge? Or is there some other calculation I need consider? Simple things like this have me stumped and the online videos and online written explanations all assume a fair amount of knowledge of concepts that I am not familiar with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
