Moon Stacking troubles

Posted By David Beckemeier

Here is a link https://picasaweb.google.com/110636644300222230697/June62012?authuser=0&feat=directlink to my moon shots on picasa web albums. ANyone able to stack these for a better view? I've tried over and over with registax 5.1 without success... If you do it, would you be kind enough to share your methods or even...a post of the finished product?

Good DSLR 17-55mm or 75-200mm subject for photo?

Posted By David Beckemeier

Just recently got my ADM adaptor to connect my Nikon D7000 to my Atlas EQ G mount for some longer exposure photos...I've a 70-200mm VRII Lens and a wide angle 17-55mm lens to use. Any area of the sky a good bet to take a nice long exposure and show something? I live outside Chicago in a so so darker sky area...
Any thoughts? Or any tricks to use like stacking subs? I was thinking of using ISO of 800 and taking 2-3 min subs..stacking them and throwing in some darks as well...
Any thoughts?

Stilletto IV focusers still in production?

Posted By David Beckemeier

Just went to a link at www.stellar-international.com. They make the Stilletto IV focuser for NIKON/CANON etc dslr's. you focus once..remove your stilletto and you're at prime focus for a DSLR picture. I thought these went out of production...anyone know if they still make em or recently purchased one? May want to grab one myself..

Would a barlow be of use in my setup?

Posted By David Beckemeier

Using nikon d7000, a stellarvue raptor 90mm refractor, orion 2 inch field flattener and I currently get focus at 5.35 cm on the 2.5inch focuser. the images understandably are small... if i wanted to try for a 2 inch barlow, would i have focusing issues? Any help appreciated...
