C14 broken corrector.

Posted By Ronald Fleming

Is it necessary to ship a c14 and it's broken corrector for repair. My thought is I should dismantle the broken corrector and remove it before shipping to Celestron for repair. Ideas?

Tip-in mount dovetail

Posted By Ronald Fleming

Hello large SCT owners,

Is there a dovetail manufacturer who offers a tip-in style to ease mounting of a large optical tube? The ADM dovetail currently mounted on my Celestron telescope CGE mount does allow this method, but you have to first loosen the bolts almost entirely on the dovetail saddle. I have dropped those bolts more than once after loosening. I would like more free play in the dovetail saddle so when the dovetail mounted to the scope fits in more easily and it doesn't require excessive loosening of the bolts on the saddle.

Has anyone faced this problem before or have a solution to this?

Thanks

Ron

C14 broken corrector.

My concern is leaving the corrector in place might lead to damage of the primary. That being said, has anyone here had a repair of a corrector performed by Celestron and if so was the entire optical assembly replaced. This would include the corrector, secondary and primary.

I have looked through the scope since the breakage, and everything seems ok except the corrector itself.

Thanks for informed thoughts on this.
