I would like to add that I don't think all Southern Republicans are racist. Just the ones that refuse to acknowledge how they treated blacks before and after the war was not wrong and that the battle fought by the South was for not for a good cause. Even today, Southern Republicans go to great length to suppress black voters with ID laws to prevent voter fraud that doesn't exist, for example.

You would think that after 150 years, they would get over it.
