The list of scientists that are backing g.w. only number a little over 1200 and some of their support has been reclaimed. In case you didn't know it 2 weeks ago a report from over 35,000 acclaimed scientists, including some of the ones you are relying on, now claim that human caused g.w. is not a factor for climate change and that the trend we are now seeing is a natural process. In fact ocean temperature studies have indicated a cooling trend is beginning.
On to oil and petroleum products. Where are these mythical 40,000,000 acres? Which Oil companies are sitting on this oil ocean? What is your REPUTABLE source for this information. Oh, yeah our wonderful Congress will not allow them to drill since they passed the domestic moratorium on all domestic drilling. Did you know that with the clean air act restrictions and the growth in technology since then that most if not all of our use of petro products is virtually clean. Most automobiles produced are limited to 0 emissions during inspections. CO2 is the largest complaint for fossil fuel emissions today. Yet it is also the most necessary compound for the continuance of plants and trees which emit the O2 that you are so worried about. The Big 4 are working hard to produce alternative energy vehicles. I believe that Ford is set to market, if they haven't already started, a hydro car. However, conservation has NEVER saved a dime as far as energy, and the U.S./World economy CANNOT continue to handle energy prices that are continuing to sky rocket. All of your proposals are fine and dandy, and take years to implement, but we need a quicker fix. The only short term sustainable fix is to increase production (Law of Supply and Demand)! Drill and drill often! Expand the capacity of the current refineries and build new ones! Open up the oil ocean under Wyoming, Alaska, the Gulf, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and anywhere else it is and start pumping!

The Wilderness Society is not a credible source for information. They are a special interest group bent on returning the human race back to the stone age or better yet extinction. As I see it you are the one with your head stuffed up Al Gores butt and all the rest of the doomsaying environmentalists that are trying to turn this country into a socialist nightmare!

You know it never ceases to amaze me that "informed" Americans always blame the economic state of the nation (taxes and spending) on the current executive branch. Congress holds the spending and collecting power not the President. If we look at the economic gains during the end of the Clinton administration we see we had a Congress that was under the majority control of the Republicans and if we look at the decline of the economy, which happened in the last 3 1/2 years not 7 we see a Democrat majority in Congress. So put the blame where it belongs and remember it at the voting booth! On another note during periods of increased tax levels-i.e. Clinton years the personal income tax was a great deal higher and the Federal Government actually took in less in total taxes because everyone made less because of decreased investment. However, during the last 7 years, and during Reagan, and Kennedy admins. the gov't took in more total revenue at a lower tax rate because there was more investment in the economy and more people made more money! Using the war expenditure as an example of out of control spending is ridiculuos. It makes up a very small percentage of actual spending (somewhere around 2%-7%). Most of the Federal budget(68%-75%) is in the domestic social programs that were instituted in the mid 60's and grossly expanded in the 70's and left unreformed since then. Once again who instituted these out of control and failed programs and policies "liberal" progressive Democrats. These are the cold hard facts whether liberals want to face up to them or not!

If the Whole WMD thing was a lie then how can you explain the 80lbs. of yellowcake that was removed after the first Gulf War and just recently transferred out of Iraq to Canada? One thing to remember the Clinton administration first identified Iraq/Saddam as the largest and most dangerous threat in the region because of Hussein's incessant pursuit of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological weapons. Also he did have WMD's he used them on the Kurds in Northern Iraq after we left in the first gulf war. All Western nations were convinced that Hussein had WMDS or was vigorously pursuing them. Any how we did not go into Iraq because of Saddams having or pursuing these dangerous weapons. We went in because he refused to allow inspections and missed several final dates to comply over a period of 12 years. The WMD reason was a story fabricated by the now leaders of the Democrat Party and pounded into the publics head by the media so that Congressional control would be placed in their hands by a forgetful and mostly uninterested American public.

Saddam Hussein is indeed dead, but by EVERY measure, the amount of oil pumped, the amount of electric power produced, etc, Iraq is in much worse shape. One thing Conservatives might remember, these are the very descendants of the Lost Tribes of Israel. The Republican Party has done a great job of helping in death and destruction of these very people. To say nothing of women's rights in Iraq, which have plummeted since our invasion (see the first paragraph for just one of the lies that led to that).

It's funny how Republicans demand justice for those they deem wrong, but claim that, somehow, it can't be applied to them. They had good intentions. And the path to where is paved with those?

"Socialism" in the political sense or system is a redistribution of wealth and all resources within a group (nation) to all citizens. This is known as egalitarianism and is a central function in Marx's Communist Bible. I don't know about you but I would not like any government to have that much control over all the wealth and resources. It has always lead down the road of tyranny! These so called successful European socialist nations are having alot more problems then you think or are aware of. There are moratoriums on their media outlets that do not let all of the news to be printed. "The Government that governs best governs least!"

One of the first signs of the decline of a Representational Republic ( in the case of the U.S. with democratic overtures) is when it realizes that it can just vote to pay itself an unlimited amount of benefits administered by the government. Doing so transfers freedom/liberty to that government. How much more power are you willing to transfer to our government in the name of Socialism? Can't you sate your guilty conscience in a less destructive manner? Maybe you should have paid more attention to what the professors were trying to teach you about liberty and government in PoliSci 101!
