Hi all,

Here is a picture of a 14" Mak-Newt on our 1200 mount. This instrument, made in Germany with Russian optics will be going to Chile for remote imaging of the southern hemisphere. I've had fun doing a bit of imaging with it these last two days. It is impressive what you can capture in 10 seconds, and even in 1 second.

Wow!! That is one mighty impressive setup. Roland, your mounts, much like your telescopes are works of art.

Roland,

Those rings seem mighty thin to support what must be a fairly heavy scope based on the size and number of the counterweights. Or are they more like straps to just hold the OTA against a cradle ?

Is this one of the 3 f4 and f4.5 mak-newt's that Markus made up recently? Particularly, is this the one that was for sale on Astromart?
Thanks,
Kurt

Roland,

How flat is the imaging field of this scope? Will it need additional optics to cover an STL11k? Thanks.

Roland, Very awesome set-up indeed! Just beautiful. I'm surprised at how compact this set-up appears, so I'd assume the FL on the Primary is quite fast. Kind of like a "Fastmax" on Steroids. Seeing Marj with the scope, I thinking Marj is about 1", or so taller than me, I'm figuring she's about 5"-9", correct? (I'm about 5"-8") Nice that you got to test/play with this awesome toy before you had to part with it! Mark D.
