I had accidentally plugged the cable for the lighted reticle for the A-P polar scope into the 6V socket by mistake in the dark (they are same-sized yikes!) and blew the red LED. The two options were to purchase a new battery/LED assembly for around $55 or to replace the red LED, which I did. I got a 3mm low intensity red LED from Radio Shack, opened the housing for the red LED (you got to do it very carefully with two padded pliers...it is not easy), cut off the old LED and soldered the new one in place. It worked great! I'm going to tape over the 6V hole so I don't make the mistake again.
