C130 v C5 (spotter scope)

Hi, can't seem to find much info on either of these 'scopes.
The C5 has starbright coatings, the C130 is fully multicoated. Much performance difference because of this?
C5 is F/10 and the C130 is F/?

Would anyone (other than me!) consider using the c130 for astronomical uses? At the moment I just want a portable
"browser" scope.

Thanks,
Martin

The C130 is F15.4 with a 2000mm focal length. In my book a portable "browser" scope ought to be a short focal length scope to increase the field of view and also to make it useful as a daytime spotting scope. At 2000mm the maximum exit pupil with be on the order of 2mm and the minimum useful magnification is about 70X, not ideal for browsing IMHO.

The advantage of the C-5 is not only that it is F10, but also that it takes a standard SCT focal reducer so that that brings it down to F6.3, 800mm. Still a bit long for a spotting scope but not too bad as a "browser scope."

I think too there is likely a significant difference in quality. I believe the C130 is a Chinese Mak, not necessarily a bad thing but the C-5 is a solid scope that is built like an old Orange tube C-8, all metal and built to last. The one I have must be over 20 years old and everything still works as it should.

I think if one is not going to use a refractor as a grab and go scope, the the C-5 is probably the best thing out there because it is the most versatile. Star hopping where the skies are dark aint too much fun when you have a maximum FOV of 3/4 of a degree and an exit pupil of 2mm.
