I know there are some Comet Catcher owners out there. Some who want to or probably already are tapping into its fast focal speed. Did anyone modify the focuser or put in a new focuser to lessen the vignetting of the 1.25 output? Any new mods? I was thinking of buying a new 2" crayford and spider rings to handle it. What do you guys thing?

Daniel - what Vignetting are you seeing? I had a CC for years (See Todd Gross's Site) and don't recall the vignetting - although at the time my largest eyepiece was prob around 32mm 1.25. One thing I did was put on the low profile camera adapter, then use a 2" SCT adapter (in lieu of a T-ring) to make the focuser 2". It also lowered the back focus by about 1/2 inch.

The biggest problem was the large secondary - which makes the views a bit "soft". As a "poor mans" Schmidt Camera with both film and early CCD it did quite well.

I have alwaysed liked the Vixen sliding focuser - IMO its a design that I think more manufacurers should look in to....

Ok guys,

I am planning to make a new scope with the current Celestron CC optics.
Can you please advice me what tube I should purchase, focuser, and spider for the comet catcher.
I plan to move the corrector approximately 1.5' from the primary. Therefore a longer scope. I want to use the scope primarily for 35mm therefore a 2" focuser will be needed. Let me know your views. Thanks
