I am switching from a CG5-GT to a CGE. My C9 OTA was part of a OTA+ASGT package
and
was purchased about 4 years ago. My problem concerns matching the holes in the
OTA with
the holes on the CGE dovetail. The holes in the rear casting of my OTA are 3/4"
apart to
accomodate the thinner ASGT dovetail, while the holes in the CGE dovetail are 1
3/4" apart.
The only combination of holes in my OTA that will acommodate the wider CGE bar
involves
removing a flathead, countersunk screw on the rear casting between the holes
drilled for the
ASGT bar. And this option, if it's even workable would fasten the CGE bar with
only one
screw on each end, instead of the three screws for which it was designed. I've
heard
somewhere that one should never remove flathead, countersunk screws from the OTA
because they have nuts on them that can fall into the interior of the tube. Any
thoughts
about how to address this problem would be welcome from you gurus out there.
Thanks, Bob
