12"LX200 GPS - "raised bump"

I have 2 questions about 12"LX200 GPS I recently received.First there is a raised bump to the left of the focus knob on the rear mirror cell casing.Did not see this on dealer's scope. It almost looks like a plug in the casting.Anyone know if there's a meaning or a future (or past) use for this plugged area?
Second, when scope is set up in home position, hard stop to hard stop is slightly more than 1&3/4 turns, while the dealer made a big point of showing us that the scope in the store revolved 2&3/4 turns stop to stop. Why the difference & will this be a problem for me?
Thanks in advance for any help for this newbie to this forum & the hobby

The plug most likely is for an allen bolt that is used during shipment of the scope..to lock down the primary mirror.

I don't own a GPS 12in. but I do own the "Classic 12in." and our stop to stop is more like 30-40 turns ( just a guess, I always lose count). The mirror is locked by a bolt on the Classic version during shipment. The plug you see is probably the hole that was needed for the Classic version. The GPS version from what I can tell just uses the mirror lock during shippment (upper knob).

The focus lead screw,( the part inside the scope, behind the focus knob that you can't see) has approx. 40 threads/in. which means that 1.75 turns is moving the mirror only .04375 in., not anywhere enough. Have you read the Meade manual yet? Are you sure that the mirror lock is releasing the focus mechanism properly? The microfocuser is to be used for fine focus only. Did you get your scope from a camera store or an actual telescope store? It sounds like the dealer didn't know the scope he was demonstrating. Goto www.mapug.org, the Meade Advanced Products Users Group. They have a lot of information there on the LX200's (GPS and Classic).

Hope this helps and good luck
