Improving Meade finderscope on ETX 90

Hi,

I picked up an older Mead ETX 90 Astro. It has a motorized fork mount, but does not have the ability to be connected to the 497 controller and is not a go to scope. I got it for a quick grab and go, but it is extremely frustrating to use. The little straight through finder is a very poor design. Any suggestions for improving ease of use and finder would be appreciated. Thanks!

That's a great idea. I never thought of that. I will give it a try. Thanks Peter!

Meade makes (or did make) an upgrade right angle
finder. I switched to that and was much
happier with it. The right angle one needed
a little TLC and collimation work on the
little mirror inside, but in the end its
quite a decent little finder.

Out in Southern California, a lot of ETX users use the Rigel QuickFinder:

It is tall enough to get away from the telescope tube and works great.
