I, have the opportunity to purchase a meade lx-10 with accessories with tripod and wedge for a fair price. Any idea how old this telescope is? The seller says it is a 10 inch and 1000 mm fl, is this about right? Can I use my 497 autostar with it or should it come with one? Any info would help.

Hi Dale,
The LX10 is an R/A drive with optional dec. motor. The scope is an 8" f10 @ 2000mm f/l. I don't think they made them in larger apertures.
It can be driven with the ac cord or by battery with an inverter. It's a synchronous motor and will not work with 'chipped' paddles.
They are usually excellent optically and mechanically.
