There are a few factors that would determine the value of the SN8 telescope. I am not sure what the MTS is referring to but the SN8 usually comes with a LXD75 mount or the older LXD55 mount. If the telescope has a goto system it is worth more than without. The goto model is the AT model and the non-goto is the EC model. If the SN8 has UHTC coatings it is worth more than the standard coatings. A brand new SN8 AT with standard coatings is $999. The UHTC coated version is over $100 more. The age and condition will be factors in the asking price.

They were the old fork mounted SNT's meade put out in the early 90's. I believe they were LX-3/LX-5/LX-6 electronics. They are - as far as I know - similar but not the same as the current SNT's on the german EQ LXD-55/75 mount. They got "mixed" reviews at the time - but I have no first hand review - although Todd Gross on his site has one on the OTA (6" I believe).

These we ok scopes. The pier mount was heavy. I briefly owned the sct version. The electronics were (to the best of my knowledge) based on the lx-3 system. Meade sent me the SN8 by mistake. I believe these we around a $1000 new. If the electronics are ok, I would think 500 may be fair.

The 6" version of the MTS is fairly common, and usually priced around $250-300 IIRC. So the 8" would be somewhat more, if a Collector is around to pick it up in person. Shipping a scope like this is probably not a good idea due to high cost (heavy, bulky mount) and risk of damaging the corrector plate (which should not be removed, unlike the primary mirror). The modern version of the SN8 is priced around $300-350 (used) for the OTA with UHTC coating.
