FS-102 camera mounting and focuser

Hi, I have a couple of questions, I'd like to hook my canon 10d to my tak, and need to know the exact components that I need, I have the 2" ocular adaptor, if that is one of them. I also have the canon t-mount, as I've used this camera with my sct.

Also, I'd like to know what kind, if any electric focusers are popular for this scope. Thanks, Tim

Look at the component list in the back of the manual, or you can find a copy on the Anacortes site. You will want the wide t-mount (I think it is Part #TMW0007) and the adapter (Part #TCA1030). Anacortes has these and they should be able to verify the T-ring.

You may want to think about getting the field flattener/reducer (#TFP1200), since this will make the FS102 faster and will flatten the field out for the camera. Another useful part is the Camera Angle Adjuster (#TFP1100), and this allows you to rotate the camera to compose your shot.

I have heard of people putting a JMI NGF-S on the FS102 using a Takahashi "Feldstein Adapter" CCD Adapter (Part #TCD0002). You may have some in focus issues here when using the Camera Angle Adjuster, but I think it will work. I have not tried this, but with all the other tinkering I have done I think it will work fine considering where the focus point will be.

Another option is a JMI Motofocus for Takahashi (Part #MFTAK), and this will not be in the optical train, so you do not have focus travel issue with it. It works great, especially on a shaky mount to get those high magnification eyepieces in to the sweet focus range. The only draw back is it looks ugly sitting on the telescope, but it does the job.

The last option on focus motors would be a Robo-Focus, and a lot of people into CCD and Astrophotography swear by it. I am not sure of the cost, but I think it is more or around the NGF-S. You will need to search Google to find the site.
