Tension/friction adjustment on 2.7" focusers

In addition to the focuser locking thumb screw, there a three very small hex-head set screws on the top of the focuser. Do any of these allow you to make very minute adjustments in the tension/friction on the focuser apart from the thumb screw? I would like just a very small amount of friction on the focuser when the thumb screw is unlocked. I don't want the weight of the focuser to allow it to extend by itself (i.e., with just the 2" visual back installed). Any suggestions on how to adjust?

Has anyone replaced the "rack" part of the rack-and-pinon focuser? It is on the underside of the focuing tube, it looks like there would be two screws that attach it to the draw tube, but one is not accessible.

Has anyone removed the focusing unit from the OTA?

Thanks.
