TV 85 or TV 102

Hi Gang, I,m pondering purchasing another quality refractor again. I just can,t stay away from them. For planetary use will I see that much difference at the eyepiece in the 102 for the price difference than in the 85 other than a little brighter image.I,d like some feedback from any out there that have or have had them.

I am privilaged to have both the 85 and 102 and I think the 102 has the 'slight' edge over the 85, I observed Jupiter and Saturn the other evening with the 102 and a 22 Panoptic and a x 3 barlow and the views were stunning and I mean STUNNING! Which makes a change as the skies here in the U.K have been appaling just lately! To be honest it dosnt matter which one you choose both are excellent in everyway! Im a double star observer and the 102 appears to have the edge with regard to smaller separation! Hope this helps!

I own a TV 102. I'd say that unless you need a scope with airline portability, go with the 102, you'll be glad of the extra aperture. I routinely push mine up to 293x with the Nagler zoom. And the 102 doesn't cost that much more than the 85.
