This is a simple but I think hard shot to take with a digital camera because the moon is so bright compared to Mars that it washes out if the exposure is long enough to show mars. so I had to wait until the sun was rising to get just the right brightness in the sky to capture the detail in the moon and still show mars. This picture was taken on 8-13-2003 at about 6:30am Pacific with only a 1.3M Casio digital camera a QV-8000SX. The photo is untouched except for brightmess only, nothing else what so ever. Its the closest Mars will be to the moon and the earth this time around as far as I can tell from starynight. Greg Kim
