Description
This image was taken at Kitt Peak on 10/30/03. It wsa taken using a 20 RC and 10XME camera. NGC 973 (the edge-on galaxy) and the other large galaxies in this field are located approximately 200 milion light years away. NGC 973 and the nearby group of galaxies are all part of the Perseus-Pisces Supercluster. This particular supercluster is a long, dense wall of galaxies with a length of 300 million light years.
