This shot of the spirial galaxy M-101 was taken by myself and two fellow amateurs in my astro-club while taking turns guiding it throughout the night for approx. 5 hours,18min using eyepiece projection of a ER 22mm with a skyglow filter, mated to my canon F-1 and at the time New Vixen 4.1 f/8.3 1100mm 1989 refractor. The photograph was hand developed by Gagnon studios in hartford ct., it was slightly enlarged by 0.5x. This photograph was then sent along with a letter to Vixen of Japan, which they from time to time print it in their catalogs. Vixen Telescopes there after, this refractor 4 f/8 enjoyed high sales and ranking for performance and reviews in sky and telescope and astronomy magazines from 1991-1998 as the best overall refractor around.
