Description
Saw Whet Owls are somewhat difficult to find but one needs to know where to look. Sometimes their white-wash/white splash where they day roost and defecate gives their day roost away. One may also find small pellets below their roost that they regurgitate comprising the undigestable parts of their small rodent prey. This bird was initially asleep but I am sad to say that I did get a little close and woke it up. I left it quickly without causing it to fly away and the next day it was in a different tree higher up.
