I was digging around in an old campfire ashes and found two of these tiny snakes. No more than four inches long they reacted very quickly to me uncovering them, by feigning death! I waited and observed as they came to and they then were quite actively looking for another hiding place. Their colour was brilliant and I have never seen this species before at our lake in Central Ontario, Canada.
