Photographed 11/30/2007 with my Vixen 102mm f/9 fluorite refractor and Canon Digital Rebel at prime focus. Use of this 918mm focal length refractor prevents me from seeing the entire cluster without a focal reducer, but does provide a pleasing close up view of the heart of the cluster. This is a single 150-second, unguided, free-tracking exposure at 800 iso using my CG5 mount modified for gearless tow-line tracking. Because the IR cut filter is removed from my Canon digital rebel camera, some color balancing was needed in Photoshop, plus the final image was reduced to fit the screen display.
