Description
This isn’t the prettiest picture, but one of the more interesting. The two galaxies (NGC2992 and NGC2993) collectively referred to as ARP245 are in the throws of an epic galactic scale collision. Both galaxies are about 125 million years distant in the constellation Hydra. The following link is a Youtube video showing a simulation of galaxy collisions with actual Hubble Telescope observations interlaced: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-0GaBQ494E
