Description
M3 is one of about 250 globular star clusters orbiting the Milky Way galaxy. It contains about a half a million stars and is located in the constellation Canes Venatici at a distance of 34,000 light years. Globular clusters are some of the oldest objects in the universe. M3 is ~8 billion years old.
