Description

47 Tucanae orbits our Milky Way galaxy and resides in the southern constellation Toucan (Named for the South American Bird) and is 13,000 light-years distant. This extremely dense mass of several millions of stars occupies an amazingly small sphere that is only 120 light-years in diameter. There are also many red giants in 47 Tucanae which show up as yellow-orange stars. Very little is known about how globular clusters are created and how they keep from collapsing into a giant black hole.
