Three major sunspot groups rotating to face Earth on 9-Febraury 2014. Top center is 1973, mid-left is 1974, and far left just rotating into view is 1976. These groups are not as large as 1967 that just departed view, but still quite prominent. With sunspot numbers up greatly the past month, HF propagation is finally improving. Just a few months ago cycle 24 was delayed and predicted to be the weakest maximum in many cycles, with smoothed number averages in the range of 60-70, and near peak. Recent activity however is now in the 150-250 range. Is the recent activity a spike to end cycle 24 with more normal counts?
