One of my friends convinced me that my Canon 7D would make an excellent astro imaging rig. I put on my EF400 f5.6 lens and took 50 shots of the moon combined them with PHotoshop and a median combine then passed that into topaz detail and denoise. Not much noise to deal with since it was a short exposure and iso was set at 100. 1/160 at f8 is the exposure. I used to do some astro imaging but haven't messed with it in almost 15 years. Just ordered a Losmandy StarLapst and I'm converting a Canon t4i camera for astro use. The Milky Way is very bright here. Should make some excellent photos.
